WHY YOGA?
A regular Yoga practice is said to bring about ease in the body and cease the fluctuations of the mind.
It can help to improve strength, flexibility, mobility, posture and improved energy flow. It is said the benefits to the internal body systems - in particular the endocrine system - could help to improve our sleep, moods, metabolism, repair and production. The host of benefits extend well beyond the mat however, and this is where our practice really begins. This self-awareness that we work on in our practice is helping us to become kinder, better connected and more compassionate humans. Yoga can help to improve our ability to deal with the stresses of everyday life bringing us back to a state of equilibrium. Improved confidence, calmness and clarity - for me - are all by-products of this time tested practice.
In Yoga, the act of conscious breathing coupled with movement & meditation helps us to regulate 'Prana' ( life-force energy), emotions & thoughts. It is a science that is all so complex - and yet all so very, very simple all at the same time.
Even though we often love those immediate 'yoga feels' directly after a class (yoga-high anyone??), like all things worthwhile, it actually takes time, commitment and focus for the true long lasting benefits.
Yoga gives us the time out to tune in to ourselves and our needs, encouraging self-care and can help to prevent dis-ease. And... it FEELS GOOD!! What's not to love?!
